Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Hot-Rolled Mg–2Ag Alloy Prepared with Multi-pass Rolling

A conventional multi-pass rolling is designed to form different microstructures in a Mg–2Ag alloy. The relationship between microstructure and mechanical property investigated. result shows that twin-induced nucleation plays prominent role for the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of rolled alloys. DRXed grains distributed around elongated have random orientations but gradually turn concentrated orientation with strong basal texture when pass increases. yield strength ultimate tensile alloy increase increasing pass. elongation sample improved increases from one three, while significant drop four-pass sample. texture, refined grains, high-density dislocations, Ag segregation along grain boundaries are suggested play enhancing Mg–Ag alloys, low-density homogeneously fine-grained microstructure, weak critical improving ductility.
